Advertising
Just as there is in the non Internet advertising arena There are many ways to advertise on the Internet. They can range in cost from the time it takes an individual to set something up, to thousands of dollars to buy advertising services on the WWW. How advertising on the WWW fits into your companies plans, must be considered carefully before rushing in and doing it with no plan. Because the Internet is so large, special care must be taken in making sure that the group that you want your advertising to reach, is in fact reached. The first thing to consider in advertising on the WWW, is how will someone that views your advertisement will contact you. Remember that one of the selling points of the WWW is that someone in front of a computer terminal or TV, somewhere in the world at any time of the day or night, can view your advertisement. Because of this, what you don't want to convey to the individual is a 'here is a bit of information, contact me at my convenience for more information'. Don't give them something that is suppose to get them to contact you during your business hours, they won't. Give them all the information that you can, so that if they do contact you it is because they already feel that you are the best. Specific 'Ads' can spell out specific things that you have to offer, be that a product or a service. There should also be a way that the individual can find out more information on your company itself (like a home page). If your company has multiple branches and this 'Ad' is for a specific branch, you might also consider a way to inform the individual about the specific branch. Also remember that you are communicating this information in a 'technical medium', most if not all of the individuals will want to communicate with you in the same manner. In other words, be prepared to use your Email as much as your telephone. Because you can find so many different ways to advertise on the WWW, don't fall into the trap of doing it in 'bulk' will get results. Remember that you have to make sure that whatever you put out on the WWW should be current. If you place an 'Ad' somewhere and for some reason some part of the information changes, you have to remember to go back and change that information to be current. Also just the same as other forms of advertising you should keep track of what works for you and what doesn't. |
