Government
The Federal Government has many different web sites, and they are defined as a Branch (Senate, White House, etc.), Agency (NASA) or Department (IRS, Social Security, etc.). For the most part each Web Site is constructed to give information on that part of the government. There is very little consistence in form, format or content between the different parts of the government. The information, which might be of value to you from one site, may not be displayed on another site for a different part of the government. Some with have search capabilities and some will not. In the case of the IRS there are means to download information on tax laws and documents. Other sites have no way to download information. If you know what part of the government you are looking for, most of the search engines can get you addresses to get to the site that is for this (if there is one available). To open a new window and see what the Internal Revenue Service site looks like (which is part of the Department of Treasury site), Press Here. One of the sites that is a large help if finding out where to look for Federal Government Information is a site that is called 'Fed World' and contains not only links to most of the sites that the Federal Government has, but also allows you to search for some information to narrow down what sites to look at. To open a new window and see the 'Fed World' site, Press Here. A site, which allows searching for open jobs in the Federal Government, is put out by the United States Office of Personnel Management and can be viewed by Pressing Here. This will open up a new window, to let you view the information. |
